Ventilation Energy Self Assessment
The Ventilation Energy Calculator evaluates your current ventilation equipment for
exhausting air from a building or circulation fans for cooling animals. For exhaust
fans, the assessment tool compares your current high speed fans to high efficiency
high speed fans and the use of thermostats to reduce energy consumption. An efficient
high speed fan will have been tested by an independent lab and have an efficiency
rating of 21 cubic feet per minute or higher for a 48” exhaust fan. If you are using
or considering high speed fans for circulation, the tool evaluates the use of high-volume
low-speed (HVLS) overhead paddle fans for air circulation to high-speed fans. The
HVLS fans can move large amounts of air with less power than high speed fans. This
module will aid you in identifying opportunities to reduce your energy consumption.
